The big "concrete-slab-for-the-office-day"

To avoid undesirable joints in the concrete floor, the best thing is to make the entire slab in one go. So for the office, we decided to work on until finished - or too dark. We started out at 7 in the morning, and 12 hours later, the slab was almost done. Almost. The next morning we learned that making the last finishing smoothing part in the dark, might not be such a great idea after all. It`s not too bad, but the first part look so good, we will have to improve the last part too.  But all in all, the result is acceptable, the effort done by the team was impressive, and it was a great day!

The office.
The beams mark the frame for the concrete slab that has to be made during this day. The room in the back has already got bamboo reinforcement placed, the front room still has to be prepared.

Because of the wet land, trucks can not drive all the way to the slab, so we have to carry sand and gravel in ricebags from the drop point to the concrete mixer, a distance of around 15 meters. I have no clue how many kilos we carried during this day, but to call it a real workout is for sure not an underestimation!

Phillipa in charge of the concrete mixer.

We tested out different color combinations, and ended up adding a touch of black color.

 Work in progress

Peter, with the finishing touch, as always!

Sunset! Beautiful light, a cooler breeze, and ready for the final effort!

Albert washing the finished part of the slab to make it even more smooth.

Pah Me and Si Da Pa filling up the last part.

With Si Da Pa`s steady hand the floor becomes flat,...

...and with his calm and thoughtful manners and good overviewing skills, the work moves easily on.

even though it gets a bit dark...

Almost finished!
